Host for Outdoor Recreational Events

Position Description

We need volunteers with good social skills who enjoy spending time outside. Volunteers will also be expected to help plan activities as well as promote them. Our outdoor events provide LGBTQ-identified people with the opportunity to get together and engage in recreational activities like hiking and touring urban areas. These events range from ‘lite’ events (a couple of hours long) to ‘regular’ events (of longer duration). The group ends up in a café to enjoy refreshments. Visit us on Facebook.

Hosts for the outdoor recreational group need to be LGBTQ-identified, since you would be working directly with members of our community.   You need to have most Sunday afternoons free to take this commitment on.

NOTE: Before we interview you for this volunteer position, we ask that you come to at least one of the events so that you can see whether this particular program is something that you would enjoy.

Impact Statement

Help bring the LGBTQ community together to connect with each other and make new friends while having fun outdoors!

Time Commitment

A two or four hour block of time on Sunday afternoons, depending on which outdoor event it is.  Our weekly recreational events are either ‘lite’ events (2 PM to 4 PM) to ‘regular’ events (1 PM to 5 PM). We usually alternate between these two options from week to week.

We are asking for a commitment to this position of at least 4 months.   You need to have most Sunday afternoons free to take this commitment on.

Training Details

You will learn how to host these outdoor recreatonal events by working with an experienced host.
