Recreation and Sports

Spectrum has a number of recreation and sports programs for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Waterloo Region.

NEW! Drag-ify!

Drag-ify! with Sasha Tease and Manny Manilla is a monthly workshop series that explores the basic skills of drag, focusing most on makeup, costuming, and wig styling. The program is open to 2SLGTQIA+ adults aged 18+ who have an interest in drag! This program takes place at Indulgence Studio.


A chance for Waterloo Region queers to get together and play board games, card games, or solve jigsaw puzzles, as we meet up with old friends and make new. (This group is 18+)

Saturday Drop-Ins

This social drop-in event is a great opportunity to meet other people, to talk about whatever you currently have on your mind, and to make new friends! Come and hang out with us in a casual, relaxing atmosphere where you can just be yourself! This event is ideal for you if you just want to socialize in a 2SLGBTQ+ friendly setting. Note, this does not take place every week. (This group is 18+)

Queer Craft Circle

In partnership with Idea Exchange, we are pleased to offer Queer Craft Circle. This free group will meet monthly; alternating between virtual and in-person sessions at Idea Exchange Queen's Sq. Explore a variety of artistic mediums in this fun and casual group. (This group is 18+)

2SLGBTQIA+ Multi-Sport Drop-In

It's the gym class you wish you had in high school! For ages 18+. Join us in the gym for an hour of basketball, volleyball, badminton, floor hockey, dodgeball and more! This will be a beginner friendly safe space for every BODY! 

There are three different Multi-Sport Drop-Ins at different locations: Stanley Park Community Centre, Downtown Community Centre, Kinbridge Neighbourhood Association. Stanley Park Studio

A new alternative to the Multi-Sport Drop-In at the Stanley Park Community Centre on Saturdays. For those looking to be active but not with team sports. Activities will include yoga, Mindful Movement, and dance. Click here to see what activities we have planned for each session.

Spectrum Outings

Spectrum Outings is a monthly group that runs from 11am-12pm on the first Sunday of the month to walk or hike a trail in Waterloo Region. Join 2SLGBTQIA+ adults 18+ for some fresh air and socializing. Note: if there is precipitation in the forecast the group may be cancelled. Currently on hold. Rainbow Film Club

Spectrum and the Rainbow Coalition of Waterloo Region (RCWR) are pleased to partner with Apollo Cinema to present the Rainbow Film Club! Join us each month for a classic of queer cinema. You can also join us for a Queer Night Out discussion group in the week following each screening so we can discuss the film. Visit the calendar for details.

Spectrum on the Spectrum

A Social Group for queer and trans people in the autistic community! Waterloo Region Family Network and Spectrum present Spectrum on the Spectrum, a monthly drop-in group for queer and trans people in the autistic community who are 18+ in Waterloo Region. This is an opportunity to gather and enjoy activities including board games, crafts, colouring, and discussion in an accepting and welcoming space. Games and materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring in their own activity/art supplies if they would like.

Queer Run Club

Queer Run Club Waterloo Region is a 2SLGBTQIA+ running club that meets every Sunday. After the run, there is an option to join for coffee/tea at a local cafe.
