SPECTRUM offers a variety of services for 2SLGBTQ+ people in Waterloo Region. We also offer services to parents and families, businesses, allies and those wishing to become allies.
Older
Adults
With our SPECTRUM Prime group and Aging with Pride committee, we work to support older 2SLGBTQ+ adults. We provide education and supports to senior-serving organizations, and make space for older adults to socialize and learn from one another.
Transgender
Services
SPECTRUM’s Transgender Services Committee works to ensure that needed services and programs for transgender individuals are in place in Waterloo Region. Below, find information on our Transgender Peer Support Groups, our TransNAV GPS directory, other transgender spaces in our community, and how to reach us!

SPECTRUM welcomes newcomers and immigrants! Check out our Multicultural Rainbow Connect group and our legal aid clinic. If you’re looking to start a group for your community please connect with us and we’ll try to help.
Additional Services
Mental Health & Legal Aid Services
Legal Aid: In partnership with Waterloo Region Community Legal Services (WRCLS), SPECTRUM offers a Legal Aid Clinic for local 2SLGBTQ+ people with a lawyer who has lived experience as a member of our community.
Mental Health: SPECTRUM established the Chrysalis Fund in memory of a former Board member. Funds donated to the Chrysalis Fund are used to subsidize the cost of counselling services for 2SLGBTQ+ people -- especially trans and non-binary folks -- through the OK2BME program at KW Counselling Services.
Resources
We have a variety of tools and reports to help you learn about 2SLGBTQ+ issues. We also have online directories of trans-friendly service providers, and even a map of gender-neutral washrooms across Waterloo Region.
Rainbow Diversity Training
SPECTRUM provides training and consultation on 2SLGBTQ+ issues and can help you make your organization more welcoming and inclusive of 2SLGBTQ+ people.
SPECTRUM offers a safe place where 2SLGBTQ+ individuals can be themselves and find community and supports.
